Gabriel “Biel” Rainho is based in Berlin, but oversees the operations for all GF Team affiliates in Europe. He is a Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt from the Grappling Fight Team (GF Team) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Gabriel was born on the 28th of December, 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He started practicing BJJ when he was 6 years old together with his cousins, today accomplished BJJers and black belts themselves: Vinicius Marinho, Joao Alfredo and Felipe Tavares, all encouraged by their parents who believed in the benefits of sports in a child’s education. Gabriel’s first coach was Master Laerte Barcelos. It was Barcelos who awarded Gabriel his blue belt; he then changed to the Universidade Gama Filho academy (which later changed name and became GFT) and received all his further belts from Master Julio Cesar, including his black belt in 2003 when Biel was only 23 years old.
He has won a variety of titles across Brazil and Europe numerous times.
Gabriel has been living in Europe since 2011, and taught BJJ and NoGi Grappling in London and Munich in the past, moreover hosting seminars all over Europe for the past three years. Since October 2014, Gabriel has been based in Berlin.
Gabriel also teaches BJJ and NoGi Grappling at the Freie Universität Berlin, and Judo to children at the Nelson Mandela School and Berlin British School.
