Classes at GF Team Berlin are open to all levels and age group!! Gabriel also offers private classes to those interested.
Nowadays , GF Team is one of the top Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teams in the world.
It all began at the Universidade Gama Filho, a university in Rio de Janeiro where in 1996, a BJJ academy was opened at the Taquara Campus in the Northern area of Rio de Janeiro. Pedro Gama Filho, the director of the university, taught BJJ at the University for a short while before handing the job in the capable hands of Master Júlio César, Marcus Bello and Alexandre Baraúna. Gama Filho stayed behind the team giving financial support.
The team’s growth was immense from the get-go and soon the camp had to be shifted to a better facility at Campus Piedade, another UGF address. Other branches of the team also started opening in places like Bairro Vila da Penha and Aracaju.
With the passing of Pedro Gama Filho in 2004, the team lost the sponsorship of the University and had to move their Head Quarters from the Campus Piedade to Méier, though keeping the name (UGF). However with the rise of MMA, UGF had to change their name since the University did not want to be in any way connected with the sport of MMA, thus giving birth to the name Grappling Fight Team (GF Team) in 2007.
Under the leadership of Master Julio Cesar, GF Team has had great success in Brazil since the 1990’s. With the turn of the 2010’s decade, GFT was propelled to worldwide success through the opening of affiliates in the US and Australia, and a series of excellent competition results at international level. The continuous production of high level fighters such as Denilson Pimenta, Rodolfo Vieira, Ricardo Evangelista, Italo Lins, Vinicius Marinho, Huanderson Pavão, Gabriel Rainho and many others has established GF Team as one of the top BJJ teams in the world.
Since 2011, GF Team has opened affiliates across Europe under the leadership of Gabriel Rainho. With numerous affiliates across the world, GF Team has established itself in the competition circuits and in the BJJ circle as one of the most welcoming and friendly environments to learn and train BJJ.
